About Fuller Fillies

The average size of Women in the UK is a 16 – with around 4.4 million riders in the UK this equates to a staggering 2 million + lady riders who fall into the ‘16 plus’ size range!

It may be staggering to conceive, but Fuller Fillies is the UK’s (possibly even the world’s) only fully-coordinated Collection dedicated to lady riders between sizes 16 – 24.

Whilst it is true that there are some ranges that include the odd ‘extra-large’ garment or style, or profess to fit a size 18, in reality, the fit is very bad with manufacturers scaling up their patterns from a size 8 to an 18 resulting in a deformed garment; we have all experienced jackets with sleeves to fit an Orange-Utan, or jodhpurs so tight that we can’t bend to zip up our boots!

In the research for Fuller Fillies we interviewed over 500 ladies, gathering statistics to ensure our clothing would fit exactly how it should; measurements were taken for Bust, Waist, Hips, Leg Length, Ankle Length, Knee Width, Arm Length, Back Width, Neck Size; in short, we had our ladies tied up in tape measures for months!

Buying from Fuller Fillies

Fuller Fillies does not sell direct to the Public (sorry!); In the UK we distribute to Retailers including Stores, Internet Sites and Mobile Retailers. Please go to the Where to Buy page to see a list of outlets in your area, or select an Internet Retailer or Mail Order Supplier.

Sizing

As there is no UK-wide benchmark for ladies' clothing sizes, Fuller Fillies collated information from over 600 ladies to establish their own size standard to which all patterns would be made; thereby, once you have established your size in the Fuller Fillies range, all you have to consider is the fabric content when making your purchase- all stockists are provided with this information however, you can see for yourself by viewing the product on this site!

To help you decide what size you are please read the following:

Size 16 Ladies have an 'over the bust' chest measurement of 40/42" and hips of 42"

Size 18 Ladies have an 'over the bust' chest measurement of 42/44" and hips of 44"

Size 20 Ladies have an 'over the bust' measurement of 44/46" and hips of 46"

Size 22 Ladies have an 'over the bust' measurement of 46/48" and hips of 48"

Size 24 Ladies have an 'over the bust' measurement of 48/50" and hips of 50" 

Tops and Jackets are sold by UK Dress Size, as above, as a rule, our 16 in the UK is an American/Canadian 14.

Depending on the garment, an amount of 'room' is built into the pattern on top of this, ranging from 8% on tailored garments to 22% on comfort-fit items; please read the information given on each item before making a purchase if you cannot try the garment on.

Jodhpurs and Breeches are sold in waist sizes; all Fuller Fillies legwear has at least 6" of stretch at the waistband so, to find your correct size, measure your waist, knock 6" off and order that size, (so if you have a 40" waist, order size 34") 

As research shows that around 85% of 'plus-sized' ladies are between 5'4'' and 5'7''  our  clothing is made to these specifications however, many garments will suit taller, longer-limbed ladies and some Jodhpur/Breeches ranges can be made to order with longer or shorter legs; please consult your Retailer - we do have plans to launch a 'long/tall' range very soon!
